Throwable Ball Camera Takes Full Spherical Panoramas
Posted on October 14, 2011
This throwable ball camera takes full spherical panoramas. The researchers embedded multiple cameras into a ball-shaped enclosure, which was then padded with foam.
The camera ball takes photographs when it is at its highest point and barely moving. The highest point is determined by an accelerometer inside the throwable camera. It contains 36 fixed-focus 2 megapixel mobile camera modules. These small cameras are also in foam padded enclosures. The photographs taken by the camera ball can be downloaded using USB.
