Sling Media Riding High on Slingbox

Sling Media is starting to benefit from the popularity of their Slingbox device. The Slingbox allows consumers to transmit their local cable and satellite television over the Internet. CNET reports that Sling Media has raised another $46.6 million in funding from companies including Liberty Media and EchoStar.

The Slingbox device costs about $250 and can be found in thousands of retail locations. CNET says the device is very popular among business travelers. They can use Slingbox to keep up with local sports games while they are on the road.

Update: SlingMedia has been acquired by Echostar. The acquisition price was $380 million.
