Microsoft Enters AntiSpyware Market
Posted on January 7, 2005
Microsoft recently acquired the anti-virus firm Giant Company which started rumors they were planning to offer security software. Now those rumors have become reality as Microsoft has released a beta antispyware package. Microsoft's first security offering is Windows AntiSpyware (Beta), which will be available for free until July 2005.
CNN/Money senior writer Paul R. La Monica wrote that "despite its formidable financial resources and marketing heft, Microsoft faces a lot of challenges in the security software market."
Still, security software companies like McAfee and Symantec have to be concerned about a giant like Microsoft.
