Google Launches the Google Maps Gallery

Google has launched the Google Maps Gallery, which enables organizations to share and publish maps via the Google Maps Engine. Maps in the gallery are published by Google's cloud infrastructure. The gallery can be found at: http://maps.google.com/gallery/.
The Google Maps Gallery already includes many maps, including historical maps, census maps, space maps, maps with demographics and more. Some of the organizations that have provided maps include the National Geographic Society, USGS, NASA, Natonal Park Service, US Census Bureau and Natural Earth.
Here are a few highlights:
- Internet User (% of the population) map from the World Bank Group
- Lewis Clark Map from the David Rumsey Map Collection
- Moons of Jupiter: Io map from the Seti Institute
- Railroads of North America map from USGS
- US Civil War map from the National Geographic Society
