Posted on December 20, 2008
Wired reports that the AP has picked the new Hulu website as the Website of the Year for 2008. The ad-based website lets users watch full-length video content including the latest TV shows and movies. The blogosphere was initially highly skeptical of the project.
Some skeptical bloggers dubbed the site "Clown Co." before it officially launched on March 12, 2008. Hulu is now getting the last laugh as its traffic soars. The site reportedly gets 24 million unique visitors a month according to ComScore. It has also helped reinvent television for the Internet.
Hulu is a great website and its very useful. The site also lets videos be embedded on websites as shown above. This can help content viral. It's usefulness depends on its ability to continue to be able to get great new video content for its viewers to watch.
